An AI agent that answers your WhatsApp messages like a regular contact, with its own computer in the cloud. That is Muse, live in the US since September 8. And this one does far more than talk.

Muse gets its own virtual computer

Muse is no update to the Meta AI chatbot. Every user gets a dedicated virtual machine, the Muse Secure VM, a real Linux box with a browser, storage and a terminal. The agent stays on the job even after you close the app.

Inside that sandbox, it surfs the web, fills forms, sends your email, books trips and even negotiates your bills. Muse Spark, Meta's model built for agentic tasks, powers the whole thing. Memory persists across conversations, so it recalls your preferences without reminders.

WhatsApp is the front door to Muse

No new interface to learn: you write to Muse the way you write to a friend, straight inside WhatsApp. An iOS and Android app plus muse.ai complete the launch, and Meta's AI glasses come next.

That choice widens the potential audience at a stroke. While OpenAI and Google refine agents for power users, Meta slips its own into the world's biggest chat app. Much like Claude and its built-in browser, the race is now about action, no longer conversation.

Muse pricing: free, then $20 or $100 a month

The base tier costs nothing up to 100 million tokens per week, though a payment card is required at signup. Two subscriptions follow: Power at $20 and Maximum at $100 per month.

One clever detail: paid plans add capacity, not extra features. Ads are off the table for now, and chief AI officer Alexandr Wang points to commerce as a possible revenue path instead.

Muse security: Sentinel on duty, early stumbles too

A second agent named Sentinel lives on the same machine and screens every outbound action. Any sensitive step, a payment or an email, waits for your explicit approval. Meta also says nothing from the VM reaches its ad systems.

Reuters still reported mixed internal tests: dropped sessions, stalled tasks, and one case where the agent surfaced private iCloud photos. An encrypted Muse Confidential VM should close that gap before year's end. Until then, connect a low-risk service first.
