Claude Design: Anthropic Wants You to Build Prototypes and Slides Without Opening Figma

Anthropic just dropped Claude Design, a tool that generates prototypes, slide decks, and marketing one-pagers straight from a Claude conversation. No Figma skills required, no Canva templates to sift through.

Claude Design turns prompts into visual outputs

The product launched today in research preview for Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers. Powered by Claude Opus 4.7, Claude Design lets you describe what you need, get a first draft, then iterate through conversation, inline comments, or direct edits.

Finished work exports as PDF, PPTX, standalone HTML, or shareable URLs. Teams can also send designs directly to Canva for collaborative polishing, or hand them off to Claude Code for implementation.

Not a Figma killer, and Anthropic knows it

Anthropic is careful about positioning here. Claude Design targets people who aren't starting from a design tool and need to go from idea to visual fast. Professional UI/UX teams will keep using Figma.

The standout feature: Claude Design can read a company's codebase and design files to automatically apply its design system across every project. Brand consistency enforced by AI, with zero manual setup. That alone makes this compelling for product and marketing teams.

Anthropic's enterprise blitz continues

Since January, Anthropic has shipped Claude Cowork, agentic plugins, Opus 4.7, and now a design tool. That's roughly one major release every two weeks. The company is clearly building a full productivity suite around Claude.

The financial backdrop is equally staggering. Anthropic's annualized revenue has crossed $30 billion, up from $9 billion at end of 2025. VCs are circling with offers that would value the company at $800 billion, more than double its February round.

Who actually benefits from Claude Design?

Startups without a dedicated designer. Consultants who build pitch decks at midnight. Product managers who need a quick mockup for Monday's standup. These are the people Claude Design is made for.

Anthropic's bet is smart: don't compete with Figma head-on, but capture every visual task that doesn't warrant opening a dedicated tool. If the output quality holds up, that's a much bigger market than traditional design software serves today.
