Shopify AI Toolkit is a set of plugins that connects AI coding tools to the Shopify platform: current documentation, API schemas, code validation and store management through Shopify CLI. Store management runs through Shopify CLI's authenticated context: the agent prepares an operation, you decide when it fires. You type "apply a 15% discount to the summer collection", it translates that into API calls, validates them, then runs them against your store.
One caution, though: once triggered, a mutation applies immediately, with no draft mode and no undo button (do your first experiments on a development store, nobody wants to discount an entire catalog by accident on a Friday evening). Reviewing every operation before release remains your job.
The recommended install path is the plugin, which updates itself as Shopify's APIs change. You'll want Node.js 18 or higher plus one of the six supported environments.
