Bolt.new is an AI app builder from StackBlitz that writes, executes and deploys full-stack code directly in your browser. Nothing to install, an account is enough. Founders and developers describe what they want in plain language and watch a working draft appear live. The free plan carries 1 million tokens a month, with Pro stepping up to 10 million for $25.

Bolt.new builds complete applications, front end, database and authentication included, from a written description. You ask for an order-tracking dashboard with Google sign-in, and a working first version shows up in the preview pane while you watch. StackBlitz's WebContainers technology runs a real Node.js environment inside the tab, so the agent can start the server, read its own errors and fix them without your help.

Before any build starts, a discussion mode lets you refine the brief with the AI without burning build tokens (a habit worth forming on day one, your wallet will thank you). By default the agent runs on Anthropic's Claude models, with other engines available.

From a lightning launch to a Microsoft deal

Launched in October 2024, Bolt.new reached roughly $40 million in annual recurring revenue within six months, a rare trajectory for a development tool. StackBlitz then raised $105.5 million in early 2025, with Forbes pegging the company's valuation at $700 million later that year.

Version 2, released in late 2025, added Bolt Cloud, a bundle of hosting, databases, authentication and edge functions that removes the detour through outside services to ship an app. Then, in May 2026, a partnership with Microsoft opened Azure deployment and Microsoft 365 integration. Competition stays fierce among no-code app builders, with Lovable, v0 and Replit on the same turf, yet Bolt keeps a strong card in hand, a full code environment you can see and edit in the browser.
